‘Akaal’ is a five-week Punjabi South Asian Grief Support program crafted by one of the founders of Soch. Inspired by personal loss, the program creator designed Akaal after experiencing the profound impact of her father’s passing. Rooted in the rich tapestry of South Asian spirituality, culture, and language, Akaal stands as a beacon of hope for those navigating the tumultuous waters of grief within the South Asian community.

During the five-week program, participants embark on a voyage of self-discovery, guided by compassionate facilitators versed in both grief support and South Asian traditions. Through group discussions, rituals, and reflective exercises, participants engage in a profound exploration of their grief experiences, drawing strength from shared cultural narratives and collective resilience.

With a recent investment by the Advance Brampton Fund 2024, the Akaal South Asian Grief Support Program has now expanded to support the Tamil & Urdu speaking community. Iravaatha Anma- Tamil Grief Support and Shifaa-e-Dil Urdu Grief Support launched in November 2024. Soch is looking to continue to delivery of this program. To donate click here.
