Maneet and Jasmeet had the privilege of leading a workshop at the 8th Annual South Asian Health Consortium Conference at California State University in June 2024. The founders engaged internationally trained mental health professionals in a deep dive into the creation and delivery of an innovative grief support program for the community: Beyond Loss: Akaal – Empowering South Asian Communities Through Grief Support.
This presentation unveiled the transformative journey of “Akaal,” a six-week Punjabi South Asian Grief Support program, crafted by the founders of Soch. Inspired by personal loss, the program’s creator designed Akaal after experiencing the profound impact of her father’s passing. Rooted in the rich tapestry of South Asian spirituality, culture, and language, Akaal stands as a beacon of hope for those navigating the tumultuous waters of grief within the South Asian community.
