Substance abuse is a sensitive topic in the South Asian community for Indians and diaspora, especially pertaining to alcohol. Opening up about having problems with drinking can be met with a variety of responses that can leave those suffering feeling alone and without support. Come join the Soch family as we discuss different ways to navigate recovery from substance abuse. Abstinence is often seen as one of the only avenues of support, but this is not the case and we will explore how Harm Reduction can play a role in recovery for individuals that experience any form of substance abuse. This event will be facilitated from a peer support perspective where individuals are invited to share their experiences and learn how to begin conversations around addressing problematic relationships with alcohol.
